Calls For Investigating Into Olympic Council Ticketing Deal
The Oireachtas Committee on Sport has called for an investigation into the recently revealed ticketing deal between the Olympic Council of Ireland and ticket firm THG.
Speaking after a private meeting yesterday, Committee chair and Fine Gael TD for Louth Fergus O’Dowd told us: “We are now calling for an extension of the ticketing inquiry into a deal struck between the OCI and ticket firm THG that binds the two together for the Olympic games in 2020, 2022, 2024 and 2026.
The Committee has also decided to send a copy of the Moran report to the Director of Corporate Enforcement, as well the Public Accounts Committee.
"We will invite the OCI to come before the Sports Committee to outline how they will implement changes on the shortcomings identified in the judge's report to allow the organisation to move on positively from this controversy," added O'Dowd.
“The Committee will also be contacting the ambassador in Brazil, but we're acutely aware of the need not to interfere with the inquiries by authorities under way there."
