The Weeknd reveals new video for Avatar track 'Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)'
The latest addition in the James Cameron's Avatar series premiered December 16th. The cinematic video's track has already been shortlisted in the year's Academy Awards Best Original Song category.
The Weeknd’s video to soundtrack James Cameron’s Avatar sequel, The Way of Water, has just dropped. The stunning video features scenery in a slowed down montage of moments from the movie.
Asides from Pandora’s fictional landscape, the accompanying video, directed by Quentin Deronzier, also features brief glimpses of the Canadian singer shrouded in fiery embers.
Swedish house supergroup, Swedish House Mafia, produced the new track, with help from Avatar’s score composer Simon Franglen. The Weeknd first hinted at his involvement in the blockbuster’s music back in early December, before going on to release the song a day ahead of Avatar’s premiere, on December 15.
This is not the first time the 32-year old has contributed to a major motion picture, with other works including ‘Earned It’ for the 2015 film Fifty Shades of Grey, and the Kendrick Lamar-assisted ‘Pray For Me’ for 2018’s Black Panther.
The singer’s addition to TV shows include his co-creating, writing and executive producing- as well as leading the cast of- new HBO drama series co-starring Lily-Rose Depp, The Idol.
‘Nothing is Lost (You Give Me Strength)’ has been shortlisted on the Academy Awards’ Best Original Song, alongside Rihanna (for her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever single ‘Lift Me Up’) and Lady Gaga (for her Top Gun: Maverick contribution ‘Hold My Hand’).
