Netflix announces production of The Inbetweeners 3

Netflix has announced that production for The Inbetweeners 3 has begun in the UK.

The film is a continuation of the sitcom and its two films.

Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas will continue their roles as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper.

Claire Jones will produce the film, alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Production’s Mark Lesbirel.

“It’s been super fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans,” said executive producers Iain Morris and Damon Beesley.

The news comes alongside the release of a short teaser, which sees the friends reunited in Simon’s yellow Fiat with one red door – which infamously went into a lake at the end of the show’s third and final season.

Simon struggles to start the car, before driving it out of a garage. On the back windscreen, the number three is seen written in the dirt.

The original sitcom was broadcast between 2008 and 2010. It followed the misadventures of four suburban teenagers at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive as they “navigated school life, friendship and failed sexual encounters,” according to the official synopsis.

The first film of the series went to No. 1 in the box office and set a record for the biggest opening weekend for a UK comedy at the time of its release.

The Inbetweeners 3 will stream on Netflix, with a release date not yet announced.
