Taylor Swift joins star-studded cast of controversial director's David O. Russell's new film
Swift joins Christian Bale and Margot Robbie in the untitled film's celebrity-filled line-up.
US singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is the latest talent announced to join the ensemble cast for David O. Russell's forthcoming film.
Few details have been shared about Swift's first period film, other than its A-list cast.
Swift will be in good company, as fellow Hollywood actors Christian Bale, Margot Robbie and John David Washington are set to appear in the film alongside Rami Malek, Zoe Saldana, Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Rock, Mike Myers, Robert De Niro, Michael Shannon, Timothy Olyphant, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts and Alessandro Nivola.
The Grammy Award-winning pop singer is no stranger to an ensemble cast, making her debut in 2010 and most recently playing Bombalurina in a theatrical adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats in 2019.
Production on the film has already wrapped, with the title and release date yet to be announced by 20th Century Studios.
The film, produced by New Regency, will mark Russell's first time writing and directing his own script since 2015’s Joy, starring Jennifer Lawrence. Russell is producing with Matthew Budman.
Jennifer Lawrence, Jamie Foxx and Angelina Jolie all reportedly turned down roles in David O. Russell's upcoming film, following long-term allegations of abuse - including Russell's transgender niece stating that he sexually assaulted her at a gym. Russell later stated that his 19-year-old nice was "acting very provocative towards him."
Russell allegedly abused Amy Adams on the set of American Hustle, to the point where Christian Bale had to step in to defend her. George Clooney, Julia Stiles and numerous members of Silver Linings Playbook also reported his behaviour to be "jarring", with on-set groping claims made public by The Daily Beast.
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift's Evermore album broke the record for biggest one-week vinyl sales.
