RTÉ confirms premiere date for The Traitors Ireland
Siobhan McSweeney will host The Traitors Ireland and Kevin McGahern has been announced to take reins of the companion series The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked
RTÉ has confirmed that The Traitors Ireland will premiere on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sunday, August 31.
The series is hosted by Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney and was filmed at Slane Castle, Co Meath.
“The Irish have a charm and ability to deceive while smiling, which will make this version rather special, I think. And I’m the luckiest person in the world to watch them close up,” McSweeney said.
A teaser released today features McSweeney narrating over an orchestral version of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face, showing cloaked contestants at Slane Castle.

The format brings together a group of strangers competing to win €50,000 while avoiding being “murdered” or banished in the game. Hidden among them are “Traitors”, whose role is to undermine the rest.
Comedian and TV presenter Kevin McGahern will host a companion series, The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked, which will air after each episode and will be available on RTÉ television, RTÉ Player, and podcast platforms.
The reality competition originated in the Netherlands in 2021 and has since been adapted in over 30 countries, including the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Claudia Winkleman hosted the BAFTA-winning BBC version of the series, with its third season finale reaching 7.4 million viewers, making it one of the most-watched British reality game shows of all time.
Merchandise linked to the franchise includes a board game, card game, clothing, and a live experience currently running in London.
