Official Irish and UK poster for Kneecap has been released
The film will hit the Irish silver screen on August 8.
KNEECAP have shared the official Irish and UK poster for their forthcoming biopic, directed by Rich Peppiat.
The film is set for release on August 8 in Ireland and on August 23 in the UK, following its Irish premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh last week, where it won the awards for Best Irish Film and Best Irish Language Film categories, as well as the Audience award – becoming the first feature to take home all three.
Award-winning dramedy Kneecap, set in post-Troubles Belfast, tells the story of the eponymous rap group and how they became the unexpected face of a protest in defence of the Irish language, through a reimagined telling of the trio’s origin story.
Check out the official poster below:
It stars group members Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí as themselves – alongside Academy Award-nominated actor Michael Fassbender, Simone Kirby, Jessica Reynolds, Fionnuala Flaherty and Josie Walker.
The film won Utah’s Sundance Film Festival Audience Award: NEXT in January, after becoming the first Irish-language title to ever premiere at the festival.
Following its Irish release, Kneecap will be shown in worldwide cinemas from next month. It is also rumoured to become Ireland’s Oscars submission for the international feature category later this year.
