Academy Award-winning actor Joaquin Phoenix stars as the titular Napoleon Bonaparte in the official trailer for Ridley Scott's new film.
According to its synopsis, Napoleon is "a spectacle-filled action epic that details the checkered rise and fall of the iconic French Emperor..."
"Against a stunning backdrop of large-scale filmmaking orchestrated by legendary director Ridley Scott, the film captures Bonaparte's relentless journey to power through the prism of his addictive, volatile relationship with his one true love, Josephine, showcasing his visionary military and political tactics against some of the most dynamic practical battle sequences ever filmed," the film's official website reads.
Vanessa Kirby will co-star as Josephine, while Tahar Rahim plays Paul Barras.
Scott – who previously worked with Phoenix on 2000's Gladiator – is also reuniting with screenwriter David Scarpa for Napoleon, having worked together on 2017's All The Money In The World, as well as the upcoming Gladiator 2.
Napoleon is set to arrive in cinemas on November 22 – followed by a release on Apple TV+ at a later date.
