Meryl Streep expected to return for The Devil Wears Prada sequel
Emily Blunt is expected to join her, while Anne Hathaway's involvement is yet to be confirmed.
A sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is in development at Disney, with much of the original cast expected to return.
Initially reported by Puck, The sequel follows editor Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) as she navigates the decline of traditional magazine publication in the digital age.
Her former assistant, Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) has risen to the role of an executive in a powerful consortium, responsible for the allocation of advertising funds.
Priestly's need for the advertising revenue brings the two characters face to face once again.
Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, director David Frenkel, and producer Wendy Finerman are all in talks to return, however it’s not known if Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Andy Sachs, the first film’s protagonist.
Adapted from the Lauren Weisberger novel of the same name, it is widely believed that the character of Miranda Priestly is based off one of Weisberger's boss while she worked for Vogue.
Streep earned a golden globe for her performance, while the film earned $326.7 million worldwide.
