Kabin Crew release single ‘The Sound of the Northside’ from Irish film Christy
Check out the new track below
Kabin Crew have released their single ‘The Sound of the Northside’, which features on the soundtrack to the new Irish film Christy.
Directed by Brendan Canty, Christy follows the story of a teenager navigating adolescence in Cork’s northside, with a soundtrack rooted in local hip-hop.
Two members of Kabin Crew, Jamie Forde and Darren Stewart, appear in both the original short and the full-length film, with the pair having previously performed on The Late Late Show and at Dublin Castle.
The Cork youth rap collective gained major prominence last year following the viral success of their song 'The Spark', recorded in collaboration with the Lisdoonvarna Crew.
The track has amassed over 2 billion views across social media. It was described by The New York Times as “the song of the summer” and won the RTÉ Choice Music Prize's Song of the Year.
The full soundtrack for Christy is due for release on August 1 via Faction Records.
It includes tracks by additional emerging Irish hip-hop and spoken word artists, including Daithí, Strange Boy, Murli, Hazey Haze, Bony and Ri Ra.
'Sound of the Northside' has been released ahead of the full Christy film soundtrack. You can check it out below:
