Film Directors top Forbes' List of America's Wealthiest Celebrities
Forbes' list of America's Wealthiest celebs sees film directors George Lucas and Steven Spielberg claim the top two places.
With a net worth of $5.4 billion, film director George Lucas has been named as America's wealthiest celebrity by Forbes Magazine after they published their top ten list today. This has much to do with the sale of Lucas' production company, Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, from which he earned $4.1 billion, making up 80% of his total net worth.
He is followed on the list by fellow film director Steven Spielberg with $3.7 billion. This comes as Spielberg re-releases his Academy Award-Winning film "Schindlers List" in America this month on its 25 year anniversary. According to the director, this comes as an effort to combat hate and "open up a conversation that genocide can happen anywhere when an ordinary society goes wrong".
The wealthiest female celebrity was named as Oprah Winfrey, who came in third with a net worth of $2.8 billion, with Kylie Jenner and Jay z tied for fourth place with $900 million each.
Jay Z joins fellow rapper P Diddy as the only musicians who made the top ten list.
This is Forbes' third annual ranking of celebrity net worth and has proven to be the highest cumulative figure since they began tallying totals. Combined the stars named hold a total fortune of $18.7 billion, "more than the GDP of Iceland".

1. George Lucas - $5.4 billion
