The American actress starred in over 30 productions
Daveigh Chase has died at the age of 35. The American actress was best known for voicing in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away and for playing in the horror classic The Ring.
According to The New York Times, Chase’s father, John David Schwallier, said she died from complications related to bacterial meningitis and a blood infection at a Los Angeles hospital.
Chase first rose to prominence in 2001 when she played Samantha Darko, the younger sister of the title character in Donnie Darko.
She went on to establish a successful career in both film and voice acting, voicing Chihiro in the anime Spirited Away and Lilo in Lilo & Stitch.
She also portrayed Samara Morgan in The Ring and its 2005 sequel, roles that later achieved cult status. In addition, Chase lent her voice to the video game Let It Die, which marked her final acting credit in 2016.
Following her retirement from acting that year, she largely stayed out of the public eye.
