Daryl McCormack and Chris O’Dowd among voice actors in upcoming film On The Edge
The film is intended to raise awareness about endangered animals
Daryl McCormack and Chris O’Dowd have been announced as voice actors in the upcoming animated film On The Edge, along with Mia McKenna-Bruce, Mark Rylance, Anna Maxwell Martin, Paterson Joseph, and Vincent Tong, according to Variety.
On The Edge is a film from Studio BlueGreen, directed by Octavio Rodriguez (Coco, Incredibles 2, Ron’s Gone Wrong), about a group of endangered animals on a mission to try to save their species.
“[W]e originated this film not for our personal profit but to achieve impact,” said Beth Blood, producer and founder of Studio BlueGreen, in an interview with Variety. “At its heart, this movie is about using the joy and emotive power of the very best in animated storytelling, to foster a love of our planet and the incredible animals, species, and ecosystems that populate it.”
However, director Octavio Rodriguez emphasized, the story is key to that goal.
“We’re not trying to spoon feed this,” said Rodriguez to Variety. “It’s really story first. I really wanted to avoid trying to push some information at you. I wanted you just to sit back and enjoy the story and go, ‘I want to know more about these characters.’ My desire for this is that you walk out of the theater and have a conversation and be more curious about what’s happening to these animals.”
McCormack is known from his roles in TV shows such as Peaky Blinders and Bad Sisters, and played the title role in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. Most recently, the Nenagh-native was in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and is set to feature in upcoming projects such as Rogue Trooper and the Netflix adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.
O’Dowd is known from his roles in TV shows such as The IT Crowd and State of the Union (for which he won a Primetime Emmy award), and movies such as Bridesmaids and This Is 40.
The movie is set to be released in early 2027.
