Britney Spears says that she's just filmed a movie called The Idol
Some fans have speculated whether Britney Spears was referring to The Weeknd's new HBO show of the same name.
Britney Spears has revealed on her Instagram today that she has just wrapped up filming a movie called The Idol.
The singer posted a picture of a cat with a glass of wine positioned as if they were drinking it and wrote in the caption that she had "just shot a movie titled 'THE IDOL'… it's guaranteed to have hits and a lot bright pics to put in my beautiful family's faces!"
Fans have speculated that she may have been referring to The Weeknd's new HBO Drama series of the same name, which was greenlit earlier this month.
The series, co-written with and executive produced by Reza Fahim and Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, will star The Weeknd as a pop singer who enters into a relationship with a cult leader.
Other actors announced so far include Troye Sivan, Lily-Rose Depp, Suzanna Son, Melanie Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Steve Zissis, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga and Anne Heche.
If Britney Spears has joined the cast, it would be her first acting role since a judge ruled to end her conservatorship. Spears had been legally stripped of her ability to make her own financial and personal decisions for the past 13 years, leading to the "Free Britney" movement.
