Bong Joon Ho and John Carpenter set to collaborate on new film
John Carpenter has offered to create the score for Bong Joon Ho's first horror film since 2006.
Bong Joon Ho and John Carpenter have agreed to work together on a future film, with Bong directing and Carpenter providing the score.
Bong and his translator, Sharon Choi, interviewed the acclaimed horror director following a screening of his 1982 classic, The Thing.
In the course of discussing Carpenter's work on film scores, Bong asks if he would "be interested in doing music for another film". He then mentioned his "next, next movie", a horror project.
"I wanna do your score," Carpenter interjected, followed by the two shaking hands excitedly and Bong assuring the audience it was "seriously" going to happen.

Bong's most recent film, Mickey 17, released earlier this month and was his first project since the Oscar-winning Parasite released in 2019.
His next film, currently known as The Valley, will be hand-animated and feature the distinctive voice of documentarian Werner Herzog.
Carpenter, who last directed in 2010, has been performing the scores of his classic films live. He has also returned to creating film scores in recent years, having worked on David Gordon Green's Halloween trilogy and a 2022 adaptation of Stephen King's Firestarter.
