BBC acquires The Traitors Ireland for BBC Three and iPlayer
After a successful run on RTÉ 1, the BBC will air the Irish version of the show following the end of The Celebrity Traitors
The BBC has acquired The Traitors Ireland for BBC Three and iPlayer, where it will be available to stream in November.
Hosted by Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney, the Irish edition sees 22 strangers descend on Slane Castle to compete in missions, build a prize pot of up to €50,000, and root out the secret traitors hiding among them. Each evening, contestants gathered at the infamous round table to vote out one of their own, while the traitors plotted in secret.
Season one proved a strong performer for RTÉ, drawing an average of 557,000 live and same-day viewers. On the RTÉ Player, the series has been streamed 3.7 million times.
Alongside the Irish version, the first celebrity edition of The Traitors will launch on BBC One, airing twice weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9pm. Claudia Winkleman returns as host in the Scottish Highlands, with Irish actress Ruth Codd (How to Train Your Dragon) among the star-studded cast.
