Roe McDermott speaks to Teyonah Parris about her role in Spike Lee's new film Chi-raq.
In the new issue of Hot Press, we have an exclusive interview with Mad Men actress Teyonah Parris about her role in the controversial new Spike Lee movie Chi-raq. Parris stars in the film as Lysistrata, the title character of the Greek play on which the film is based. In an attempt to end the violence that is overwhelming her city of Chicago, Lysistrata organises a sex strike, calling on the women of her city to deny the men sex so the bloodshed will finally cease. Parris speaks to Hot Press about her experience working with Spike Lee, the current political climate that makes the film so necessary, and dealing with both positive and negative reactions to the controversial film. We've got a review for the film in the new issue as well. Check out the trailer below. Chi-raq hits theatres December 2.
