Web Summit 2015 - Preview
Wanna Be Web Starting Something?
It was devastating to learn that The Web Summit, the annual Mecca for tech start-ups, will be moving to Lisbon in 2016, but we still have a Dublin edition to enjoy this year. Attendees include conspiracy theorist peddler Dan Brown, who wrote The Da Vinci Code, and Ed Catmull, Pixar boss. Sean Rad of Tinder also has a date with the RDS, alongside Instagram founder Mike Krieger and Stripe’s John Collinson.
The event – which takes place November 3 – 5 – consists of 21 summits, including New Fashion, HealthTech and Content. Tour De France Winner Chris Froome is cycling in for the Sports Summit. According to the organisers, 30,000 attendees, over 2000 start-ups, 1000 investors and 650 speakers are due to attend; 7,000 tickets will be dished out to secondary and third level students for free. Past speakers included the founders and CEOs of Twitter, YouTube, Netflix, Skype, Tesla, PayPal and Oculus VR.
