WATCH: New trailer for Wish Upon has arrived
A music box grants the holder’s wishes but demands a hefty price in return.
John Leonetti’s upcoming horror movie grants 17- year-old Clare Shannon (Joey King) seven wishes. There is a catch, however. The demon in the music box eventually claims the user’s soul.
Clare’s life is nothing like she wanted it to be. Her mother committed suicide twelve years ago, she is embarrassed by her father, who hoards everything and she has a crush on someone who doesn’t realize she’s there.
One day, her father brings a music box with him that promises seven wishes. Clare is tempted to try it out and realizes her wishes come true. The downside of each wish, is that a person she loves dies and that the box eventually steals the user’s soul. She understands it is dangerous but finds it difficult parting with it, and leaving her new-and-improved life behind.
The movie is set to release July 14 in the U.S. and July 20 in the UK.
