WATCH: Tulip Fever
A young painter and a wealthy man's wife begin an affair in 17th-century Amsterdam.
It’s 17th-century Amsterdam and the city is captivated by the tulip flower. The tulip mania drove the prices of bulbs to exuberant heights and consequentially both rich and poor gambled on this market hoping for bigger profits.
Sophia (Alicia Vikander) is an orphan chosen by a rich old man (Christopher Waltz) to be his wife. The man commissions a young artist (Dane Dehaan) to paint him and his wife. The artist and the orphan began an affair and as they plan to to run away, they gamble their money on the tulip market.
The scores are composed by Danny Elfman known for his work in, for example, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Alice in Wonderland …
The movie is set to release August 25 in the U.S., an Irish release date hasn't been confirmed yet.
