Síomha Hennessy to bring musical stand up show to Dublin Fringe Festival 2023
'The Coil's Lament' is an acclaimed hour-long one-woman show, written and performed by Hennessy.
Dublin's Síomha Hennessy has announced a string of performances of her one-hour show 'The Coil's Lament' as part of this year's Dublin Fringe Festival. The show runs on the 20th, 21st and 22nd of September at Bewley's Café Theatre, and tickets are available now.
'The Coil's Lament' is a stand-up show written and performed by Síomha Hennessy of Sisterix, the pop-punk sister duo.
Billed as perfect for fans of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Sharon Horgan, it merges "whip smart social commentary" and "hilarious storytelling and song" as Hennessy explores the complexities of relationships in the dating-app age. At one point joined by a singing contraceptive coil, she asks the question, "Do I actually want to go back to dating men, or is life easier without it?"
Síomha Hennessy is no stranger to the stage: beyond her experience in Sisterix, she's performed in countless stage productions around Ireland and in 2019 ventured into standup. She's played in all of Dublin’s established comedy clubs and found an audience on TikTok during the pandemic via her short-form satirical comedy sketches.
'The Coil's Lament' is currently running at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it has been receiving widespread acclaim.
She joins the lineup for the Dublin Fringe Festival, Ireland's largest annual multidisciplinary arts festival. It celebrates some of the best emerging Irish art companies, and in the past has drawn more than 30,000 spectators for 16 nights in September. It boasts 562 performances in 32 venues, beginning on the 9th of September.
