RTÉ Concert Orchestra to perform 'The Words & Music of Leonard Cohen' at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre this April

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra will perform 'The Words & Music of Leonard Cohen' on the 17th and 18th of April at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin.

The concert follows the ensemble's performance at the All Together Now festival in 2019, and a sold-out, two show run at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in March of 2020.

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra is a world-class ensemble that serves its audience, symbolising the diverse eclectic mix of multi-genre orchestral entertainment. Since 1948, the orchestra has taken part in a diverse catalogue of performances including momentous, goosebump-inducing occasions.

An event that Hot Press hailed as "a magical and profoundly moving performance."

"Cohen’s songs are, for the most part, beyond criticism, although some of the keyboard-heavy arrangements and production on his Eighties and Nineties material have not aged well. Having this exceptional orchestra to employ easily side steps this problem.

There’s magic in the music of Leonard Cohen, magic that was conjured up tonight with consummate skill by the incomparable talent of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra...The arrangements - kudos to Brian Connor, and to Elizabeth Laragy, who put the whole thing together - were both subtle and inventive, directing a torch towards Cohen’s melodic gifts, which are often overshadowed by the light of his poetical skill.
