Rising Cork artist jena keating embraces independence on 'Nobody Can Have Me'
London-based Irish artist jena keating isn't afraid to break the mould.
Cork native jena keating is back with the follow-up to 'Boundaries', in the shape of the dreamy but dark 'Nobody Can Have Me'.
Possessed of a brilliant songwriting mind and a smooth, provocative voice, keating is turning heads with her new single. Diving head-first into alternative R&B, jazz, rap, and pop, jena's creative talents put her in a unique space that sets her impressively apart from the rest. Jena frequently explores fractured relationships, trauma, therapy and self-love – but she does so with an evocative flair.
According to the musician, 'Nobody Can Have Me’ “encapsulates the painful detachment from a love not capable of lasting that long but did. It stores a solid truth that nobody ever will ‘have’ wholefully me, but it comes from a source deeply burrowed in fear. It is misfortune, longing, resentments. It holds the process of healing while also grasping the sound of no more.”
With releases like 'It'll Be Grand', 'Vanilla', '12:12', 'Alone' and 'Pick Apart the Pennies' last year, jena has continually entranced listeners. The video for the artist's latest single was directed by Jade De Robles Rossdale / Collective Film and it adds a fascinating visual dimension to the songs inherent sense of drama.
