Also involved in organising the event is Le Chéile, a cross-sectoral alliance that works to challenge the far right in Ireland. On X they say they are excited, "that the support is building for the rally Stand in solidarity with workers and minorities targetted and harrased by the far right."
The Rally for Unity and Hope says that a part of their mission is that they, " believe that everyone deserves to feel safe in their place of work and their communities, no matter where they were born or the colour of their skin."
Congress General Secretary, Owen Reidy encouraged people to show solidarity saying, "Now, more than ever, we need to come together. This rally is a call to all who believe in building a society rooted in unity, respect, hope and decent, secure jobs, affordable homes, and better GP and hospital care." explaining that, "As a movement we hold those in power responsible for delivering what we all need to thrive. That means policy decisions that deliver for working people, not the wealthy few."
"It’s a reminder that every person who lives and works here—regardless of where they come from—is part of our community and deserves to feel safe and valued."
"I am calling for those in the trade union movement to ensure a strong presence at this rally, and for all unions to stand together in solidarity. Join us as we rally to show our strength, unity and power."
Le Chéile encourages supporters to "Join the rally, stand in solidarity, enjoy the music and speeches. Bring friends, chants & banners."
The Rally for Unity and Hope is at 1pm on November 23, at Larkin Statue, O’Connell St, Dublin 1.
