Author Theo Dorgan to discuss Camarade at EPIC Emigration Museum

Bestselling author Theo Dorgan will be discussing his book Camarade at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum on August 27.

As part of EPIC's Éire to Everywhere: Stories Without Borders series, Dorgan will be examining his philosophical thriller through themes of friendship, memory, exile and political idealism. The book was nominated for the Dublin Literary Award 2026.

The book follows an Irish exile in Paris, who in the midst of writing his memoir, must confront his shadowy past. A violent act that forced him to flee Ireland forty years ago comes back for Joseph to contemplate, with the story unfolding in a dual timeline against the backdrop of Cork and Paris.

"Written in precise, contemplative prose, Camarade examines how we construct meaning from our past while questioning the nature of authenticity and self-awareness," reads the official description.

Aligning with EPIC's focus on highlighting the diaspora, the conversation will consider how personal and collective histories intersect across borders. The event will conclude with a book signing.
