Hidden Light solo exhibition opening in Ranelagh

Karen McLaughlin will be presenting a solo exhibition titled Hidden Light in Ranelagh Arts, taking place from August 6 to September 5, 2026.

The contemporary Irish artist will showcase more than 30 abstract paintings.

"The land sits underneath everything I make," McLaughlin said.

She also insisted on the importance of Donegal in her work, particularly "the ruins, coastlines, mountains and valleys and old homesteads of forgotten villages overgrown within fields, that have all but returned to nature" and the memories carried by the land.

"Although deeply personal, this work connects to something collective. The land holds shared histories. Stories that repeat. Cycles of loss and renewal. Light returning again and again through darkness."

"Between the two, like with myself, some balance is found," she said regarding operating from two different art studio's in Inishowen and Dublin.

The exhibition has been curated by Dino Notaro and "invites visitors to slow down and reflect of the subtle dialogue between place, memory and self".

The opening reception will be August 6, 6-8pm.
