One-man-show The Witness coming to 3Olympia Theatre
Tickets to Rex Ryan's one-man-show become available on Friday.
A performance of The Witness at 3Olympia Theatre has been announced for February 14.
Rex Ryan is the 'one man' writing, acting and directing. The play has been described as a "high intensity shotgun blast of a show".
The story is based on the true crime bestseller of the same name, about Joey 'The Lips' O'Callaghan, who testified against two gangland killers. To protect him from revenge and ostracisation as a snitch, An Garda Síochána assigned Joey a new identity. He is the youngest Irish person to enter Witness Protection.
Ryan has twice been nominated Best Actor in Ireland by Broadway World. The surname may sound familiar: the actor from Clontarf is the son of Gerry Ryan, the late radio presenter.
In addition to writing and acting, Rex and his wife Miglė are the founders and directors of the Glass Mask Theatre, which exclusively puts on new plays. The Witness will be playing 12 nights of sold out shows there in October.
Ryan has acted in the TV shows Borderline, Harry Wild, and most recently, That Dirty Black Bag. He has also written and directed a short film, Funeral Song, for which he was nominated Best Actor at the Richard Harris Film Festival in Limerick.
Tickets to the 3Olympia show go on sale Friday, September 11, at 10 a.m.
