'Backstage at Mike The Pies' is produced and presented by Megan O’Donoghue, and features some of the brilliant artists who have featured at Mike The Pies during lockdown.
Emma Langford is the latest leading Irish artist to benefit from the Hot Press and Mike the Pies Podcast treatment. As regular followers will know, Hot Press has launched an exciting new podcast series, produced and presented by Megan O’Donoghue, and is centred around the legendary Kerry venue, which has built a reputation as one of the best-loved live music venues in Ireland.
Since the beginning of lockdown, the Listowel venue has hosted a series of special gigs, run with the support of the Department of Tourism, Culture, the Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, as part of the Live Performance Support scheme.
Some of Ireland's best artists have performed in the venue in gigs that were broadcast on Facebook, including artists of the outstanding calibre of Jack O’Rourke, Junior Brother, Sorcha Richardson, Emma Langford, Mick Flannery, TV People and Susan O’Neill (SON), among many others.
Episode 2, which features Limerick singer-songwriter Emma Langford, is now live on Apple and Google Podcasts. In the Podcast, Emma Langford chats with Megan about her start in music, discusses self-doubt, going to vocal therapy, and much more. Langford's 2020 album Sowing Acorns was ecstatically received by critics all over the country, with Hot Press calling it "enthralling, truthful and intimate."
• New episodes of Backstage at Mike The Pies will be released every Wednesday at 5pm. Tomorrow's episode features Cry Monster Cry.
