Kenneth Branagh To Visit the IFI for All Is True Screening
Legendary actor and director Kenneth Branagh will visit the IFI for a screening of his new film All Is True followed by a Q & A.
Five-time Oscar nominee Kenneth Branagh will visit Dublin for a special screening of his latest film All is True followed by a Q & A with The Irish Times' writer Donald Clarke.
The event will take place at the Irish Film Institute (IFI) on the 8th February, the date of the film's Irish release.
Following a relatively unknown period during William Shakespeare's life, All is True is set during 1613 when the bard is at the height of his fame. However, when his beloved Globe Theatre burns to the ground, he decides to return to his home town, Stratford-upon-Avon and is confronted by his neglected family.
There, he attempts to mend his fragile relationship with his wife Anne, played by Dame Judi Dench, and their daughters, while the family is still haunted by the memory of the pair's only son, Hamnet. Forced to face his shortcomings as an absent husband and father, All is True provides a rare portrait of the final years of one of the greatest writers in history.
With Branagh at the helm as director, and playing the role of the bard, the film is based on a script by Ben Elton, marking the writer's first original drama. Meanwhile, IFTA Award-winning Úna Ní Dhonghaíle edited the film.
Branagh is also directing the upcoming Artemis Fowl film, due for release later this year.
