Joe Manganiello will Play Deathstroke the Terminator in Affleck’s Batman Movie
No relation to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s killer robot character.
Ben Affleck teased and confirmed that Deathstroke would be the main antagonist of the newest iteration of Batman. Now, it’s confirmed that TV and film actor Joe Manganiello will play the antagonist. His breakthrough came from his performance on True Blood as Alcide Herveaux, a sexy werewolf (when in his human form). This may be a surprise to some since Joe has spent most of his career in small and bit roles, True Blue excluded.
The character he’ll play, Deathstroke, is famous for being the basis of Deadpool, but you wouldn’t know it from how the two characters are usually portrayed. Created by Rob Liefeld, Deadpool was a shameless rip-off of Deathstroke before evolving into the 4th wall-breaking whacko most people know him as. Deathstroke, despite being a formidable foe to DC’s heroes, hasn’t enjoyed the same level of publicity, though he has appeared in televised media, famously as one of the major antagonists in the anime influenced Teen Titans. There he was called Slade after his real name, Slade Wilson, since “Deathstroke” was inappropriate for a show aimed at kids. He also appeared as a recurring character in The CW’s superhero drama, Arrow.
We don’t know much about Ben Affleck’s Batman movie, not even the official title or a release window. We do know that it will take place in Arkham Asylum, which is best known as a holding cell for Batman's rogues, which they inevitably break out of.
