Jamie Lee Curtis to star in Murder, She Wrote film
The remake film will premiere in late 2027. Curtis is set to lead the film as author-turned-detective Jessica Fletcher.
Jamie Lee Curtis has confirmed that she will star in a film adaptation of the long-running television series Murder, She Wrote.
Directed by Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), the film is set to release on Wednesday, December 22, 2027, via Universal Pictures.
Curtis will take on Angela Lansbury's iconic role of Jessica Fletcher, a Maine mystery novel writer with a knack for solving real-world crimes.
The original series ran for twelve years from 1984 to 1996 and yielded Lansbury 12 Emmy nominations. Lansbury, who lived in Co. Cork in the 1970s, was best known for her role in the series. She died in 2022. Revisit notable tributes to Lansbury here.
In Lansbury's lifetime, she expressed dislike for the notion of a Murder, She Wrote reboot. A prior television reboot starring Octavia Spencer was scrapped after beginning development in 2013.
Curtis revealed her involvement in the Murder, She Wrote film while on a press tour for Freakier Friday. She most recently appeared in the crime drama series Scarpetta, which released earlier this month on Prime Video.
