The Long Dark receives a story mode

The Xbox One and Steam game The Long Dark has a story mode called WinterMute on its way. Furthermore, the game will also be available on the PS4 console.

The new story mode follows Will Mackenzie and Dr. Astrid Greenwood, who get separated when their plane crashes in an electrical storm. You will play as Mackenzie who desperately tries to survive. As you try to find Astrid, you begin to understand why you ended up here in the first place.

The story mode is a free addition to the game. "If you buy the game on Early Access now, you will immediately get the Sandbox Mode, and will also get the Story Mode once it launches (final # of episodes to be determined).”
