Tech Review: The Witcher 3 - Wild Hunt
When Witcher 3 first appeared in 2015, the Switch was but a twinkle in Nintendo’s eye. Meanwhile, fans of epic role-playing sagas gobbled up the tale of Geralt, a monster-hunter, or Witcher, who travels a fantasy land seeking bounties on vampires, griffins, and other ghouls.
Alongside the endless side-quests, the central goal in Wild Hunt is to find Geralt’s missing daughter. It’s like Liam Neeson in Taken, with added werewolves.
On PS4, Xbox One and PC, the game was a glorious portal into an epic otherworld, so there were questions about whether it could port to the graphically-challenged Switch. While the textures are muddier on the handheld console, The Witcher has lost none of its open world wonder. The game, which is about to get its own Netflix series, is stuffed with moral quandaries and storytelling twists that will satisfy fans of drama, as well as hardcore gaming.
