Irish comedian Tadhg Hickey claims Instagram account "taken down" following outspoken support for Palestinians
"If you're so right in your ideology, in your viewpoint, why would you have to spend so much time and money and effort silencing any voices of descent?" he said in a statement.
Comedian Tadhg Hickey has claimed his Instagram account was “taken down” after showing continued support for the people of Palestine.
In a statement posted to X, he said there were no warnings for the ban.
“There was a kind of a pro-Palestine purge again on Meta,” he said. “Nobody received any warnings. Just like lots of pages taken down. My own page had about 300,000 followers and hundreds of millions of views on the videos, so you can make up your mind as to why it was taken down.”

Through his stand-up routines and short skit-based videos, Hickey has become known for his outspoken support for Palestine.
“Anybody who knows my account, I used to use the collaboration feature quite freely,” he said. “So I was blessed enough to be able to help a variety of Palestinian causes, initiatives and fundraisers around the world. So, that’s been taken away from me now and from the community as well. Again, with no real route to recourse, because the appeal system is just automated, which I think is actually illegal.”
Hickey has now switched to posting on his backup Instagram account, @tadhghickey1.

“Free speech is under threat from growing Authoritarianism in Western countries…” commented former European Parliament member Mick Wallace.
Today, Hickey appeared on George Galloway’s podcast The Mother of All Talkshows, discussing the suffering in Gaza.
"We're not like you," the comedian wrote. "We don't share your soulless corporatist values. It would be more painful for us to stay silent than any censorship or bullying you have in mind for us. So bring it on. And bring on judgement day for you craven zombies."
