Ireland’s only vinyl records manufacturer to enter liquidation
The High Court has formally announced Dublin Vinyl’s liquidation
The vinyl pressing plant Pressing Matters Limited, trading as Dublin Vinyl, has been appointed provisional liquidators by the High Court.
The firm has 22 full-time employees and 4 full-time contractors, who have all been made redundant, said the counsel. Dublin Vinyl is unable to pay its debts and has liabilities over assets of €1.3m, and therefore petitioned the court for the winding up orders.
Founded in 2016, the firm had contracts for large-scale record companies and artists, such as Taylor Swift, but suffered major losses due to the pandemic, the war in Ukraine and Brexit, operating at loss in 2022 and 2023.
Examinership was considered as an alternative, but the company ultimately decided that winding up was the best option for all parties, including its creditors.
Although it was hoped that contracts worth €500,000 would be honoured before the company was liquidated, the firm told the court that they would not be able to carry out that work.
