The legendary Hollywood cinematographer Nick McLean will come to Dublin for a special screening of Mel Brooks' 1987 Spaceballs.
Hollywood cinematographer Nick McLean will visit Ireland this year for a series of special events that will honour his work throughout the years, which includes credits on The Deer Hunter, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Marathon Man and Being There, as well as working with some of the biggest directors of our times including Alfred Hitchcock, Steven Spielberg, Clint Eastwood and Sylvester Stallone.
As part of this celebration, The Sugar Club will host a special screening of Mel Brooks' cult classic Spaceballs, on which McLean worked as cinematographer.
The event is set to take place on March 11th, from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm presented by the DBS School of Arts.
Furthermore, McLean will be present on the night to take part in a very special Q & A alongside Hot Press writer Wayne Byrne.
The pair have co-writen a book together on Nick's life and career as one of Hollywood's most acclaimed directors of photography which spanned over five decades including credits on some of the biggest films and television shows of the past fifty years.
Speaking on his collaboration with Wayne Byrne, McLean said, “when he suggested to me that there should be a book on my career I told him I would only ever do it with him. Wayne makes it such a comfortable experience and he understands the art of film like few others; he knew as much or even more about my work than I did! Wayne knows the most obscure films that I shot!”
