Speaking about Dexys’ new song, frontman Kevin Rowland said: “‘Coming Home’ is about rising up out of a slump. In the album narrative, the protagonist has passed through some very dark times but he is now enjoying positivity and peace. He’s embracing a new-found connectedness: to the universe, to other people, and to his true self.”
The iconic 80s band will play Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre as part of their Feminine Divine Live! U.K and Ireland tour, on Monday September 25. It will be the band’s first show in Dublin for 10 years.
The band plays in Dublin after 17 shows across the U.K. The band will then play shows in France, Germany, Spain, Portugal and elsewhere across Europe in October.
Dexys upcoming album will be their sixth studio album, and the band’s first since 2016’s Let the Record Show: Dexys Do Irish and Country Soul. It is their fifth album of original material.
The band, previously known as Dexys Midnight Runners, are best known for their work in the 1980s, with their most iconic track ‘Come On Eileen’ topping the 1982 singles Charts in Ireland, as well as the U.K and the U.S. The song also won best British Single at the 1983 Brit awards.
Dexys returned in 2012 with One Day I’m Going To Soar after a 27 year absence. The band currently consists of members Kevin Rowland, Sean Read, Michael Timothy and Jim Paterson.
