Debbie Harry announces new memoir
She has hinted that another one might be in the works due to "living a very full life".
Debbie Harry, front-woman of Blondie, has announced an autobiography titled Face It.
It will feature a variety of essays written by Harry as well as interviews with the journalist Sylvie Simmons. Visually, it will include exclusive photos and art by Blondie fans.
“I didn’t want to [write it], but I did,” said Harry. “There are many more stories for me to tell, some funny, some scary, some warm, some chill to the bone, and if Face It appeals to people then I will get to telling more of the anecdotal bits of the story of Blondie."
These might include the time she "met Rita Hayworth and Penny Singleton backstage at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles".
“This book is biographical and covers a lot of years," she added. "I know there will be questions asked because, in putting this together, I realised I have led a very full life and couldn’t possibly cover everything in just one volume."
In regards to criticism, the 'Call Me' singer is ready to face it, saying: "I don’t have a thick skin, but I do have a pretty good sense of humour.”
Face It will follow Harry's career beginnings in New York during the late '70s where the band combined punk, disco and rap to make the perfect recipe for a successful pop band.
The book will be out on October 1, published by Harper Collins.
Blondie's last album, Pollinator was released back in 2017.
