Author Louise O’Neill to discuss her memoir at EPIC Emigration Museum

Irish author Louise O’Neill will discuss her memoir, A Bigger Life, at EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum on November 30 at 7 pm.

The evening will include a reading from the novel, an audience Q&A session and a book signing with the author.

A Bigger Life, out September 24, marks O’Neill’s first full-length memoir. It includes themes “from women’s rage and Y2K thinness to modern masculinity, relationships and emigration,” according to a press release.

“At 38, Louise O’Neill had the life she thought she wanted – until her long-term relationship ended, taking with it the home, future and sense of certainty she’d built,” reads the official synopsis. “Heartbroken but defiant, she made a radical decision: to say yes to everything, to take risks and to reclaim her life – on her own terms.”

O’Neill is known for her novels including Only Ever Yours, which marked her debut release in 2014 and earned her the 2015 YA Book Prize.

Her next book, Asking For It, was released in 2015 and became a number-one bestseller. It was also named Book of the Year at the Irish Book Awards.

Subsequently, she released five more novels including Almost Love, The Surface Breaks, After the Silence, Idol and her most recent book, Whatever Happened to Madeline Stone, which came out earlier this year.

Her work frequently explores themes of feminism, body image, the pressures of fame and  sexual violence.
