Watch: Riz Ahmed's spoken word performance on The Tonight Show in wake of Charlottesville violence
Written 10 years ago, the piece has found a new relevance.
Plenty of celebrities have come out to condemn the white nationalist protests and violence we've seen in recent days in Charlottesville but the best response has to have come from actor Riz Ahmed last night on The Tonight show .
Ahmed, a British Muslim, also moonlights as a rapper and he displayed his skills in an impassioned spoken word performance. The piece is called "Sour Times" and it deconstructs the myth that Islam is a religion of violence.
"In these sour times, please allow me to vouch for mine/bitter taste in my mouth, spit it out with a rhyme/I’m losing my religion to tomorrow’s headlines.”
