The Head And The Heart
Good band name – but ho-hum record
I have been known to wax lyrical on the false dichotomy between music of the head and heart. Turns out a band called The Head and the Heart got there first. What they haven’t done, however, is produce an album that blends the two effectively. Instead they’ve produced a not hugely inspired folk indie record filled with jangly guitars, rollicking pianos, sad pianos and ‘badapbada!’ vocals. Actually that sounds potentially interesting. The main problem, then, is the run-of-the-mill melodies and the nondescript-to-portentous lead vocals, which explain why this is one more record that makes me feel, “I think I’ve got one of them at home already”.
