The long lost
Geek love from anti-folkies
The Long Lost are a gorgeous little duo consisting of two former band geeks turned high school sweethearts called Laura and Alfred Darlington. They make obtuse, left of centre songs about love, loss and regrets and employ a wide range of ballroom rhythms and odd instruments to tell their tales. Laura’s hushed vocals give a wonderfully eerie atmosphere to tracks such as ‘Ballroom Dance Club’ and ‘Amiss’ and Alfred (who also makes music under the pseudonym Daedelus) scores the album with imagination and flair. Fans of Beth Orton and the Mouldy Peaches will love their record.
Key Track: 'Ballroom Dance Club'
