Inspired by a Salman Rushdie novel, Midnight’s Children is the epitome of free spirit in a fight against adversity through sound.
Inspired by a Salman Rushdie novel, Midnight’s Children is the epitome of free spirit in a fight against adversity through sound. What that means to you and me is Gabriel Le Mar and Michael Koelbecker (better known as Eternal Basement and Magnat) have chosen the often dreaded ‘concept album’ as the latest vehicle for their exquisitely polished take on tech-trance, coming just weeks after their last long player. Nothing to fear here though, as these veteran DJs of the big chill cruise through a plain of deep dubby (break)beats, subtle trippy harmonies and fluid vocals, all laced in 21st century psychedelics. Consciousness-raising as opposed to hell-raising.
