The Rise And Fall Of Silvercity Bob
Seelenluft is one person, Swiss producer Beat Soler, who has been putting out music as Seelenluft for the past decade. An album that documents the life and times of Soler’s alter ego, Silvercity Bob, Soler’s ‘concept’ album would be far harder to swallow if it weren’t for the fact that it’s such an atmospheric, enveloping work.
Each track here is imbued with a haunting vibe, evident on the otherworldly jazz of album opener ‘Magic’, and the ghostly, mid tempo world groove of ‘Auracar’. At times veering into the realms of accessible home listening, the real highlights are Soler’s less obvious moments, like ‘Persian Suit’, where a cinematic aura complements a double bass, guitar twanging groove or the album is closer, ‘The Terrible Sound Of Silence’ a calming yet melancholy jazz ridden outro. Required late night listening for troubled souls everywhere.
