The semi-finalists for the Dublin and Munster regional heats of the 2FM 'School Of Rock' schools bands competition have been announced.
The Dublin heat will see a special guest performance from Concerto for Constantine in Whelan's on Sunday 9. The semi-finalists competing on the day are:
The Peanutbutters from St. Conleth’s College, Ballsbridge, Black Alliance from Castleknock Community College, Silkeborg from High School, Rathgar and Sandford Park, Ranelagh, Santa Cruz from Blackrock College and Fritz Kula from The King’s Hospital School, Palmerstown
The Munster regional heat will be held in Cyprus Avenue, Cork on Saturday March 15. Special guests will be The Anybodies, with the following semi-finalists in competition:
KVX from Christ King Secondary School, South Douglas Road, Cork, Jefl and Hyde from St. Joseph’s C.B.S. from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Dark Corners from St. Colman’s College, Fermoy, Co. Cork, The Appeal from various schools in Waterford and Stumbelina from Clonakilty Community College, Co. Cork.

Judges for the regional heats include Cormac Battle of RTÉ 2FM, Ken Allen of Faction Records and musician Mark Greaney of Concerto for Constantine (formerly of JJ72).
For the live final, the panel will be expanded to include Chairperson Larry Gogan, Stuart Clark of Hot Press, Noel Mc Hale from MCD, Emma Harney of Entertainment Architects, a representative from Walton’s music and Tony Perry, Director of Pulse Recording Studios.
The overall winner of the 'School Of Rock' will win a €5,000 gift voucher for Walton’s Music Shops, five days' recording time in Pulse Recording Studios, an interview with Hot Press magazine, a support slot at an upcoming MCD gig, a photo shoot with music photographer Enda Casey, a Pure Marshall DAB Digital radio for each band member and an award for their school.
