Hallelujah...
Win the new Jeff Buckley live in Paris album
L'Olympia, Paris, July 6 1995. Jeff Buckley gets down on his knees before the audience and sings, "Remember me...Forget my fate."
Remember him, we certainly do. Buckley's ethereal voice and the intensity of his songwriting and performance continue to captivate many, despite a career tragically cut short by his early demise in May of 1997.
Since his emergence from the New York bar and coffeehouse scene with 1993's Live At Sin-E E.P., followed up with his phenomenal debut album, Grace, Buckley became a dark, romantic icon, blessed with incredible talent. The posthumous release of demos for what was to be his second album, Sketches For My Sweetheart the Drunk, only re-inforced a sense of enormous potential left unfulfilled.
Following the release of the Mystery White Boy live album in 2000, comes Live A L'Olympia - recorded at his Paris gigs in July of 1995. The album was culled from two shows, with the first ten tracks taken from an analogue audio cassette found amongst Jeff's possessions after his death. It includes renditions of some of Grace's finest moments, including 'Eternal Life,' and 'Lover You Should Have Come Over,' as well as incendiary cover versions of rock classics like 'Kick Out The Jams' and 'Kashmir.' This relatively early live show documents the singer exploring his dangerously spontaneous live power as a performer and responding to the overwhelmingly positive response of his fans - his amazing 'Hallelujah' has Buckley improvising and harmonising while accompanied by the entire audience...
Whew. You'll be happy to hear that we have ten copies of Jeff Buckley Live a L'Olympia to give away.
