There are far better underground offerings out there than these.
The first installation of the long-promised mix CDs from the London superclub that it’s OK to like. Mixed by Saturday resident Craig Richards, it seems to be screaming out ‘I’m cool! Honest! Look! No big tunes!’
Fair enough, the exclusion of biggies for underground gems is always to be applauded, but there are far better underground offerings out there than these. Swag’s ‘Drum Hydraulics’, Bushwacka’s ‘Bluntski’, Terry Francis’ ‘Took From Me’ and Jamie Anderson’s ‘Montage’ stand out in a plodding kinda way, but overall this lacks a bit of an edge.
C’mon, you’re not supposed to have a bleedin’ PhD to enjoy dance music, and this un-eventful meander could have benefited from the programmer removing his head from his bottom. Can do better.
