Shane MacGowan teams up with Johnny Depp
The Pogues man features on the soundtrack to Depp's new film The Lone Ranger
Johnny Depp has got Shane MacGowan to record a new version of classic trad tune ‘Poor Paddy Works On The Railway’ for the soundtrack of his new film, The Lone Ranger.
It was originally tackled by The Pogues on their full-length 1984 debut, Red Roses For Me.
Due out next week, it also features the likes of Iggy Pop, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Lucinda Williams, Gomez, John Grant, Rubens and Iron & Wine who chips in with new song ‘Rattling Bone’.

“These are the artists we listened to on the way to set each morning and in the evenings with the dust, like bitter chalk, upon our teeth,” explains producer Gore Verbinski.
