The beloved songsmith is over in June.
Carousel One is the latest album from much-lauded songwriter Ron Sexsmith and he's bringing it to Dublin this summer. You can catch the man adored and venerated by the likes of Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney and Chris Martin doing his well-crafted, emotive thing in the intimate environs of Whelan's on June 23.
The Canuck's new record finds him more content than ever.
"Oh I hope so," he says. "[Previous LP] Long Player was quite a grumpy record. It was uptempo musically but lyrically… not so much. I didn’t realise until we were putting the songs together for Carousel One that this would be more outgoing, there's a lot more humour. I mean, there’s even a smiling picture on the cover, which I’ve never had before. I just hope it doesn’t scare the children.”
Tickets are now available and are priced at €25. The show is an over-18s one so the youngsters are going to have to wait awhile before seeing the man in the flesh. They have our sympathies.
