hotpress.com is delighted to have the first stream of The First Kiss of Love, which is playing in full right here
A labour of love some three years in the making, the debut album from Cronin is officially released next Friday – but hotpress.com has the exclusive premiere today!
Brother Johnny and Mick Cronin – along with Brian Murphy and Fiachra Milner – recorded the LP in their own Transmission Rooms studio, with long term collaborators Ger McDonnell, Karl Odlum and string arranger Terry Edwards.
They also called on some pals to get involved, with Waterboy Steve Wickham, JJ72's Mark Greaney, the vibemaster himself BP Fallon and the legendary Shane MacGowan among those who make an appearance.
"It is quite a retro album and we hold our hands up to that," Mick says. "The influence of our hero's is all over it for everyone to hear. we sort of had to get these fantasies out of our system before we can move on as songwriters."
It remains to be seen if Noel Gallagher will be using the LP to hide from paparazzi, as he did last month, but we're sure there'll be a complimentary copy in the post!
Cronin are launching the album with a special Midlands show in The Stables, Mullingar on July 31, with a Dublin date still to be confirmed – in the meantime, though, give the album a digital spin below...
