Kerbdog at Cyprus Avenue (Photos)
Cult Irish Alt-Heavy Rock quartet KERBDOG set pulses racing in Cyprus Avenue on Saturday night! Hailing from Kilkenny, the legendary band which includes Cormac Battle (guitar/vocals), Colin Fennelly (bass), Billy Dalton (guitar), and Darragh Butler (drums) took in the Cork leg of their tour as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1994 debut self-titled album “Kerbdog”. Kerbdog rapidly rose to fame in the mid-90s and were set to rock the world with their eardrum-battering melodies which were a clash of indie and metal. They were unlucky with timing and after an unbelievable summer in LA and a potential hit record waiting to be released, their return to Ireland saw fate conspire against them. The album was delayed and when it was released in 1997, the mainstream music press' attention had moved on from alternative rock to Britpop. Their momentum was lost and effectively changed the trajectory of the band. Like many Irish bands around that time had a loyal following and that was very evident on Saturday night as Cyprus Avenue was full of supporters with memories and stories from 30 years ago.
Support came from a wonderful set by Aoife Destruction And The Nilz.
